If you don't want your social media profile to suck, fix these three things.
1. Your Handle
Stop using usernames that look like generated Wi-Fi passwords. Why is your personal training brand under the username @danthepumpgod_fit_1979? That's a terrible username.
Keep it short and memorable, and for the love of your brand, keep it consistent across every platform. If you're @danfitness on TikTok, you should be @danfitness on Instagram, YouTube, and Facebook too.
2. Your Profile Photo
This is a very small circle, not a billboard. If you're a company, you should already have a responsive logo — use that. If you're a creator, a high-quality headshot that doesn't look like a mugshot works well. And if your photo tells us what you do, even better. If you're a DJ or MC, wear headphones or hold a microphone. If you're a photographer, hold a camera.
3. Your Bio
"Your bio is a search engine, not your diary. Don't put 'Chasing sunsets where the Wi-Fi is weak while manifesting my best life, one iced latte at a time.' Nobody is searching for that."
When in doubt, this formula will help you out: [Who you are] + [What you do]. Use keywords so the algorithm knows exactly where to put you. For example: "Fitness Trainer | Helping busy moms get back into shape."
Your handle, your photo, and your bio are the first impression before anyone even sees your content. Fix these three and you've already got a profile that actually works for your brand, instead of against it.

Come point out my flaws on Facebook — @kirkpadmore. I thrive on petty criticism and correction. Same handle on YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok.
