Forrest Mars invented M&M's. And I am convinced this dude was a supervillain.
During World War Two, he wanted to make a candy that wouldn't melt in a soldier's hand. Only problem: the government was rationing chocolate, so he couldn't get ingredients. This was a problem.
Our boy went to his evil lair and drafted one of the world's most toxic and diabolical plans.
"His plan was to go straight to his biggest rival, Hershey, and convince the CEO's son, Bruce Murrie, to partner up. Pause. You and I see the red flag from here, right?"
Well, poor Bruce didn't, because he said "yeah let's do this." I don't think he had many friends.
We know Forrest didn't really want a friend or a partnership. All he wanted from Bruce was his dad's cocoa.
So they buddied up and named the candy M&M, after Mars and Murrie. Things were great. The military bought the entire supply. Business took off.
But the second the war ended and the chocolate shortage was over, Forrest kicked Bruce's ass to the curb faster than a text that says "we need to talk." He gave Bruce a payout, then erased him like Thanos with the snap. And Forrest got the entire M&M empire.
Talk about corporate savagery. Watch your back out here in these business streets.
