If all your posts are about your product or service, people will scroll past your content faster than they cross the street to avoid someone they owe money to.
Because people don't come on social media hoping to watch a commercial.
Here's what to do instead: stop focusing on selling, and show or talk about the problem your product or service solves for them. This looks a little different depending on whether you're selling a product or a service.
If You're Selling A Product
Show the problem before you show your product. Let people see themselves in the struggle before you ever reveal the solution. Make the product feel like the obvious next step, not the entire point of the post.
Give them something useful around it too — a hack, a tip, content worth watching even if your product wasn't in it. The product should feel like it just happened to show up naturally.
If You're Selling A Service
Talk about the real side of what you do. Show the mistakes people make all the time, and tell a story about an issue you fixed while your client had no idea it was even happening.
You're not just selling a service. You're selling the fact that you know how to fix the problem. Teach them how to solve it, then charge them for actually doing it.
Walk people through how to solve their problem step by step. A few will take that advice and handle it themselves. Most people will see how much work the process actually takes and end up paying you to deal with it instead.
"They hire you because you showed them you know what you're doing. Prove you're worth their time before you ever ask for their money. The sales take care of themselves."
Think you could've explained this better? Prove it.
