I don't think you realize how important captions on your videos actually are.
"A lot of people watch videos on mute. Which means without captions, people swipe past you. You're basically just a mime."
Think about it. Some people are scrolling through their feeds because they're hearing impaired, at loud events, or sitting in a boring meeting while their boss just yaps on. If there's no text on the screen, you're missing out on every single one of those viewers.
You should use captions throughout your entire video to keep the viewer's attention locked in. Use bold, simple fonts and stick to high-contrast colors so the words actually pop against your background. Aim for one to three words per line and keep them right in the center of the safe zone. (I did a whole video on Safe Zones — go find that after this one.)
Whatever you do, don't let your captions sit too low, or they'll get buried behind your username and description. A good rule is to keep them at chest level or slightly higher, so they stay in that sweet spot. This makes it easy for the viewer to watch your face and read the text at the same time, without their eyes jumping all over the place.
Still confused? That sounds like a you problem.
